For years, Samsung smartphone users have been clamoring for a seemingly simple feature that rival brands offer as a standard part of their system: a built-in network speed indicator in the status bar. With the arrival of the latest system One UI 9, the company has finally decided to make this wish come true, although it's going about it in a slightly different way than many expected.
Internet speed monitoring does not come as a direct item in the main system settings, but rather through the updated QuickStar module within the Good Lock ecosystem. Although it is not a feature integrated directly into the basic settings One UI 9, this is an official and native solution directly from Samsung.

The implementation through Good Lock and the QuickStar module offers a much cleaner, more optimized and better integrated alternative that does not burden the phone in any way. In addition, the new version of the QuickStar module for One UI 9 doesn't just bring a speedometer. Samsung has also added a much-requested switch to turn off the so-called "ongoing activity" chip.
It is an oval icon (pill) in the status bar that dynamically expands to display live activity from various applications - for example, ongoing calls, running timers, countdowns or voice recordings. If this element on the screen gets in the way or you don't find it useful, QuickStar now allows you to completely disable it and the status bar will be maxto purify imally.
Both of these innovations are strictly tied to the environment One UI 9. Samsung has currently released two beta version of this system for the flagship series Galaxy S26. The stable version is expected One UI 9 will be officially unveiled in late July, with the first wave of updates for a wider range of supported models Galaxy will start approximately two months later.
