Today's smartphones are great for watching videos, browsing social networks and working, but for many people they also have a certain disadvantage: They may be too big. A few years ago, we considered phones with displays over 6 inches to be large, but today smartphones have screens that are significantly larger, on average around 6,5 inches, but even 6,9 inches. Operating such large displays with one hand is not easy at all and you risk dropping the phone. Fortunately, Samsung is aware of this and as part of the upgrade One UI offers a feature that elegantly solves the problem of controlling giant screens.
It is specifically about the function One-handed mode. It works by completely shrinking the entire screen into a smaller window in the lower corner of the display. All icons, applications and the top pull-down bar are suddenly within comfortable reach of your thumb. You can also easily move the window to the left or right edge depending on which hand you are holding the phone in, or move it up. For users with smaller hands like me, this gadget is, without exaggeration, a godsend.
How to activate One-handed mode
Enabling Once Mode is very simple. Just follow these steps:
- Go to Settings.
- Click on the menu Advanced features.
- Turn on the switch One-handed mode.
- Go to the home screen and double-tap the Home button (alternatively, you can choose a gesture to activate it – swipe down from the middle of the screen edge).
- To exit One-handed mode, tap anywhere on the home screen.
