Displays with a high refresh rate of 120 Hz are great for smooth browsing, but in some applications they are just an unnecessary power drain. After all, why waste battery on applications such as Calculator or Clock? You may not have known this, but thanks to the Display Assistent application on your Samsung, you can set a lower refresh rate for any installed application.
What is Display Assistant?
The Display Assistant app is part of the popular Good Lock suite of tools that Samsung offers to advanced phone users. GalaxyThis app offers several handy display-related features that you won't find in the add-on. One UI, such as the ability to set a time limit for each application or notchat display on for 30 minutes. But the most useful feature in my opinion is the ability to set a default refresh rate (60 Hz) for any installed application to avoid unnecessary battery drain.
How to force 60Hz frequency for individual applications
To force 60Hz for individual apps within the Display Assistant app, follow these steps:
- If you don't already have Good Lock on your phone, download it here.
- Launch Good Lock and download Display Assistant from the list of modules.
- Open Display Assistant.
- Click on the option Standard refresh rate apps.
- At the top right, tap the icon +.
- Select the applications you want to run at 60Hz.
- Click on the button Add.
- If you want to remove an app from the list, tap in the top right three dots icon, then to the option remove, select the application, and finally tap the button remove.
