Predecessor of the Samsung series Galaxy The S20 was exceptional in many ways. Samsung decided to fundamentally change its series numbering in 2020 and start keeping up with the release years, so even though the 2019 generation was released Galaxy S10, soon there was a jump of 10 digits forward. But these older mobiles are still worth paying attention to, even if they no longer have software support and few people have them at home – and the most eye-catching of them was Galaxy S10 Lite.
Series Galaxy The S10 was released in 2019, and that right away in February. Galaxy The S20 followed a year later, but in January it was surpassed by the last representative of the discontinued series – Galaxy S10 LiteIt was the last Lite phone from Samsung and in many ways was similar to its successor named Galaxy S20FEWith it, Samsung closed one successful era and opened another, no less successful one.
Galaxy S10 Lite as a memento
Galaxy The S10 Lite was significantly different from other phones in the same series. It was larger, heavier, wider, and came with a significantly better cameras than basic Galaxy S10. Specifically, it offered:
- 6,7" display
- unusual aspect ratio 20:9
- dimensions 162,5 x 75,6 x 8,1 mm
- weight 186 grams
In contrast, he had Galaxy S10:
- 6,1" display
- dimensions 149,9 x 70,4 x 7,8 mm
- weight 157 grams
Following Galaxy The S20 was only slightly larger than its predecessor, so the Lite version seemed like a bit of a revelation. And it was all the more strange because Samsung didn't release it in previous generations. It started a new series of phones with premium features, which are very similar to basic flags, but are more affordable.
Other positives included support HDR10 + a Always-On Display, globally available advanced chip Snapdragon 855 and pleased also aluminum frameBut Samsung skimped on materials and only gave it a plastic back, older protective glass for the display, and zero water protection – it completely lacked IP certification, even though Galaxy The S10 had IP68.
Why is Galaxy Is the S10 Lite that significant?
And why are we writing about all this now, 6 years after its release? The series has been on the market for a few weeks now. Galaxy S26, which is of course much more advanced, but in some respects paradoxically still follows on from Galaxy S10 Lite. Did you know that the Lite was only the second Samsung phone to support 45W charging? Galaxy S26 has only 25W charging and the mentioned power offers up to Galaxy S26+ (and also Galaxy A37 a Galaxy A57).
It also had a relatively large battery compared to Samsung's usual - 4 500 WAnd again a comparison is offered with Galaxy S26, which this year jumped to 4,300 mAh from last year's 4,000 mAh Galaxy S25. It was also the first phone in the series Galaxy The S that was missing 3,5 mm jack for wired headphones.
Samsung launched this phone as a so-called "flagship killer," an upper-midrange phone that was meant to compete with basic premium phones but sell for less money. Back then, in 2020, it launched at a price tag of 650 EUR, with the new Galaxy The S10 cost $900. And today? Galaxy S26 It started at a price of 999 euros. So even though the value of money has changed over time, Samsung still has a very similar strategy. And most of its fans appreciate that.
The S 10 series was very good, except for the battery life. I had the S10, then the S 10Note+…..
