With every new system update, most of the attention is focused on big visual changes or groundbreaking AI features. But often it's the smallest, "under the surface" adjustments that determine how smooth and enjoyable our phone will be to use in our daily hustle and bustle. I like these three improvements in the upcoming One UI 8.5, which may not seem like a revolution, but pro user comfort is onproone hundred key.

Weather as part of the morning ritual

A little thing that will make you happy right away proalarm, is the integration of the Weather app directly into the alarm clock. One UI 8.5 allows you to set the current weather conditions as the background of the alarm screen. It may sound banal, but having an instant overview of whether it's raining or sunny outside, before you even get out of bed, is an incredibly elegant way to start the day.

Samsung DeX finally remembers preferences

Pro For those of us who occasionally use the DeX desktop interface, a feature is coming that should have been part of the system a long time ago. It's window layout memory. In the new version, DeX remembers the size and position of application windows the way you left them the last time you used it. This eliminates the annoying need to rearrange the desktop every time you connect. It's a classic example of a "quality-of-life" improvement that you only appreciate the moment you start using it.

Adaptive clock that respects your wallpaper

Samsung's lock screen customization has been advanced so far, but One UI 8.5 is bringing a major algorithm improvement pro adaptive clock. While previous versions could only recognize people or animals (and partially adapt the clock layering to them), the new version recognizes all types of objects in the wallpaper – from buildings to flowers to landscape elements. The clock smoothly changes its size, position and color so that it never covers the essential part of your image, and now adds an elegant frosted glass effect. It's a detail that makes your phone look much more luxurious and "tailored" to you at first glance.

One UI 8.5 may not be about making any big changes, but it's all the more focused on getting the details right. It's this continuity and focus on the little things that make Samsung's system one of the most mature. proIt's on the market. We'll see what Bixby can do.
