The One UI 8.5 overlay has entered the internal testing phase, and several more details have leaked from it. It is clear that Samsung is not making major changes or fundamentally altering the functions of its phones. Instead, it is refining various elements and also focusing on quite small details. However, there is news about one fairly significant addition – the AI image generator Gemini Nano Banana will be integrated directly into Now Brief.
Now Brief offers personalized content of selected information and is a relatively new tool. It is currently available only on selected Samsung Galaxy phones and is gradually being improved. Artificial intelligence Gemini, specifically its model designed for image generation, is expected to contribute to this. Google nicknames it Nano Banana; you can find it under the banana symbol and as part of One UI 8.5, it will go directly into Now Brief. So, image generation will be even more accessible.
In the internally tested version of One UI 8.5 labeled CYJ7, a new shortcut for the Camera Assistant application was also discovered. It will appear directly in the camera app. And if you don't have Camera Assistant, you will see an icon to download it from the Galaxy Store instead of the shortcut. Which, of course, will not be mandatory, but Samsung is trying to push its tools to other users this way.

A very subtle change will be made to the icons located in the upper right corner of the screen. You will find, for example, the battery icon, Wi-Fi, or mobile signal. In the new overlay, they will be thicker and thus more visible. Just a few days ago, information leaked that Samsung intends to change the battery logo and you will be able to play more with its placement.
The latest discovered change from One UI 8.5 is the transformation of the app menu. They will be placed in a floating bar at the bottom of the screen, and this bar will be shorter than before.
The One UI 8.5 overlay is expected to be released alongside the models Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, Galaxy S26 Ultra. It seems that Galaxy S26+ will also be added to them. They should be presented at the beginning of next year.
