In May this year, Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung, announced that it was acquiring Masimo Corporation's audio division, Sound United, whose portfolio includes eight iconic audio brands such as Boston Acoustics, Bowers & Wilkins, Classé, Definitive Technology, Denon, HEOS, Marantz and Polk Audio. Now that the acquisition has been completed, the Korean giant now owns more than twenty audio brands.

Harman announced that it has completed its acquisition of Sound United, bringing Samsung's total ownership to 21 audio brands. In addition to the eight mentioned above, the brands include AKG, Arcam, Crown, DBX, Flux, Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Martin, Revel and Soundcraft.

With 21 brands in its portfolio, Samsung is now one of the biggest players in the audio industry. What's more, it can leverage audio technologies from these companies for its products, including phones, tablets, laptops, headphones, TVs, speakers, and soundbars. The Korean giant also shared a video showcasing the Sound United brands and how they will make Harman "the new driving force in the audio industry."

“Harman’s vision is to create experiences that enrich people’s lives through exceptional audio experiences. Sound United’s impressive portfolio of brands is rooted in a deep passion for sound, innovation and a commitment to quality that aligns with Harman’s values. This transaction opens up great growth opportunities for all. It reinforces Harman’s strategy to build on its unparalleled success and reach unprecedented heights as a leader in audio,” "We are delighted to announce the completion of the acquisition of Sound United," said Dave Rogers, president of Harman's lifestyle division. Samsung acquired Harman in 2016 for $8 billion.
