Samsung ends support for two of its tablets and one mobile phone. These are not prehistoric devices by any means. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite was released in 2021, while the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was introduced a year earlier. Support is now also ending for the Galaxy M42 5G, which was launched in spring 2021.
All these devices will no longer receive updates from June 2025. Samsung initially promised them 3 major Android system updates and various security patches. Now it has fulfilled everything and has therefore removed them from the regular six-month plan. Their owners will have to decide whether to replace them with newer models or risk further use without security patches from Samsung.
Samsung is currently ending support for:
- Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
- Galaxy Tab A7 Lite
- Galaxy M42 5G
A certain hope is provided by Google, which will continue to support system updates for Google Play. This means that the use of sensitive applications (social networks, smart banking) will remain safe. However, the loss of support from the manufacturer is still a significant warning for future operation – even though these tablets still offer sufficient performance and solid features for everyday use. In contrast, the Galaxy M42 5G model has long been surpassed by newer mobiles.

There are options to switch to some newer devices that still have guaranteed system support. For the latest mobile devices in the A series from Samsung, for example, it guarantees 6 years of updates, which is virtually unheard of among other manufacturers. Support is still available for tablets like Galaxy Tab S9 or Tab S10, which have solid performance, modern features, and can serve purposes both for work and entertainment.
