Galaxy Ring is nothing new. We have known its appearance for more than a year, and its functions for almost a year, because Samsung has been introducing its new product to the segment wearables officially introduced on July 10th 2024But is it worth your attention? Here are our first impressions.

Galaxy Ring It gradually spread around the world. Pre-orders were launched on the day of the presentation, and the ring was launched worldwide on July 24th. 2024. For example, in the Czech Republic, it started selling a little later, on January 21st. 2025. Miscellaneous electronics stores they also become available gradually.

The packaging is truly luxurious

Samsung really paid attention to the packaging. The box hides another box, which then contains another one. It strongly reminds me of the packaging of luxury watches, which usually also have a triple package. Here you will also find brochures and a USB-C to USB-C cable for charging the case. Inside it, the ring is stored on an internal island with a button used to reset the device. When the case is opened, the LEDs effectively animate the battery status.

This really worked. The case itself is very nice, and you will be happy to display it. Of course, you will use it regularly, because only in it can you charge your ring. How often, we will see. In two days and two nights, the ring has lost about 19% so far.

Size really matters

Galaxy Ring I received the silver titanium version, which is matte gray. There are also gold or black versions, both of which are titanium. But since I had the opportunity to try the ring on beforehand, I knew I needed a size 9. Depending on the time of day and how my fingers swell, I alternate between the middle and ring fingers of my left hand – although it is generally recommended to wear a smart ring on the index finger (which was simply “against my taste” when trying it on). However, it can also fit on the ring finger of my right hand if necessary.

It is quite important to choose the ideal size. The ring is quite wide and may not be comfortable on every finger you think it is. At the same time, it is a little thicker, although the protruding sensors are not a problem. You use them to orient the ring to the underside of your finger, which the guide on the phone will tell you.

Usability with a question mark

I've only been wearing the ring for two days and I expect to appreciate its benefits over time. It offers four basic functions:

  • Energy score
  • Sleep
  • Heart beat
  • Stress

So it's nothing they can't measure Galaxy Watch. But the thing is, the ring makes their measurements more accurate and is still more comfortable while sleeping. You will also appreciate it if you want to wear something other than a smartwatch on your wrist (when you don't miss out on step and heart rate measurements). However, it is very interesting that the sleep score was measured by Galaxy Ring for 84 points, which it classifies as good. The Garmin watch rated my sleep that same night at 85, which it also says is good. So far, the ring seems to be measuring very accurately.

I'll see how I live with the ring in the coming days. For now, I just see it as an accessory that you might find useful, but you don't need to have. The high price of the ring may also be responsible for this. If it were built for half of what it costs Galaxy Watch8, it would certainly be different.
