It looks like Samsung might be taking a step back from its smartwatches.chat superstructure One UI 7 Watch and move on from One UI 6 Watch straight to One UI 8 Watch. This decision was probably made to align the software version One UI for the Korean giant's smartwatches with a version of its phones and tablets that will receive One UI 8 as the next major operating system upgrade later this year.

Samsung has made similar moves in the past regarding its smartphony. The second smartphone series Galaxy Z Flip was called Galaxy Z Flip3, because the series Galaxy Z Flip was introduced in turn Galaxy Z Fold, but introducing the second Z Flipcoincided with the launch of the third generation Z Foldu.

When One UI The Watch 8, however, would be the first time Samsung has skipped version numbers for a major software update. The closest it has come to something like this was the move from One UI 3 Watch on One UI 4.5 Watch, although the number here was not skipped completely.

It is unknown at this time what new features the add-on will have. One UI 8 Watch for eligible Galaxy Watch will bring. However, Samsung has previously indicated that its next generation of smartwatches will focus on artificial intelligence and new health tracking features. One UI 8 Watch will debut in the series Galaxy Watch8, which the Korean giant is expected to unveil in July alongside new foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold7 a Z Flip7.
