Until recently, we only had 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security. But a lot has changed recently, and Samsung offers a truly exemplary update policy for its devices. It gives 7 years to all flagships, and 6 years to lower-end models. But there is one more exception.

Last year, it was started by models Galaxy S24, the first to receive seven years of support from Samsung. Now extending support to the series Galaxy A. So it's not exactly 7 years, but even those 6 are quite generous.

The word "year" is misleading, however. It's 7 + 7 or 6 + 6, where the first number represents the operating system numbers, and the second number represents the security years. So if Google takes a year off from releasing a new Android, you won't miss out on the update. Although unlikely, it's possible that even if a device is no longer eligible for security updates, it could still get a new operating system.

Samsung recently introduced a durable model Galaxy XCover The 7 Pro, which is slightly off the charts. Even though its chipset is “only” a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, it gets 7 Android updates and 7 years of security patches. Plus, it has a user-replaceable battery, so you can be sure that the phone will last you a really long time.

Galaxy The A16 will get Android 20, while the other three models will get Android 21, if Google continues to number it that way. This long software support ensures that users will have access to the latest features and security improvements for many years to come. This is why Samsung's innovations really pay off.
