New emoticons arrive on smartphones and other electronic devices every year. Jennifer Daniel, the chairperson of the emoticons subcommittee, presented on her blog the set that should be available next year, i.e. in 2025.

The set was approved in the fall of 2023, when the Unicode committee last met. This is already Emoji version 16.0, which will bring 7 new emoji. Although the code is uniform, each manufacturer can slightly customize the final form, which is why the emoticons look a little different on iPhones and a little different on Samsung devices.

Next year, it will be an emoji with bags under the eyes, a fingerprint, a root vegetable, a tree without leaves, a harp, a shovel and a purple spot. If you're wondering what to look forward to this year, the Emoji 15.1 set was approved along with Unicode version 15.1 on September 12, 2023. It contains a set of six new emoji, including a broken chain, a lime, a mushroom, a phoenix, two varianty head nodding and several emoticons showing the size of families.
